I just got into my office this morning, an a co-worker was just starting to make a pot of coffee. We have one of those commercial coffee makers, where there are three pots and it has a heated container so it is almost instant caffienated goodness. I see he hasn’t moved the pot that is still 1/4 full of coffee from yesterday, and proceeds to pour water into the machine, with yesterdays cold coffee still there. So he is re-using day coffee??

Kinja'd!!!

WTF!?!?!? Now I’m going to have to remake the coffee, and waste a pot of coffee because he can’t wash out a pot. Some days it doesn’t pay to come in early.

Vicious circle. Need caffeine, try to make coffee, screw up coffee because you need caffeine.

The correct answer depends upon his position in the company. It can either be screwy due to massive caffeine withdrawal, or a demonstration of the Dilbert Principle.

I hate the people who don’t put the filter in right, so you think you’re about to have a drink of hot coffee, then bam! mouthful of grounds

Shit like this is why everyone is moving to single serving coffee machines despite the cost and waste.

Would you have preferred ignorance via not coming in early?

Our office has a Bunn coffee maker that fills insulated carafes instead of a standard glass pot. Since I’m usually the first one in the office, the task of making the first couple of carafes falls to me. I have a problem with dumbasses who don’t empty the basket when taking the carafe off the machine. The basket of grounds keeps dripping, leaving a puddle under the machine and a basket full of grounds for me to clean in the morning. That really ticks me off. It sucks to have to clean up before making the first cup of the caffeinated goodness in the morning.

You seem to be contending that making new coffee into old would automatically be a disaster. Which, it would, but sometimes coffee. brb making k-cup

Maybe? I add sugar & cream, so I probably wouldn’t have noticed, but it’s just the principle of the thing. I’m not really sure he used fresh grounds. He may have just added more water and let her fly.

We have six people in our office, so it’s pretty much all for one, one for all around here. That said, I do a lot of the clean-up in the office. It’s not OCD, but pretty damn close.

Guess I’m luckier here, we have single-serve machines. Shitty single-serve, but still single-serve.

But this way you have identified an extremely important and previously unknown issue that affects the entire office. You shall be heralded as a god.

Actually it did pay to come in early. Had you not witnessed it you would’ve gladly poured yourself a cup and tasted some straight garbage.

I had to teach my colleague how to use a regular coffee pot, she was putting the grounds in the pot and not in the basket _

On similar office coffee related things that make no sense, we just got a new coffee option added to our machined called “Carolina Morning.” And it’s decaf... IT IS NOT “MORNING” COFFEE IF IT’S DECAF!!!!!!!

I can tolerate okay coffee, but appreciate good coffee.

If someone made okay coffee out of good coffee then I’d be annoyed and get my own and let them learn the error of their ways.

wow, just wow.

I thought i had it bad, that i have to constantly clean the 3 carafes (real name of the coffee pots) and make 2 pots every morning, to only get to an empty coffee machine when it’s time for my second coffee.

i like my problem better than yours. at least i know i’m drinking fresh coffee since i’m force to make it.....

This person should be banned from the machine. This is probably the same guy that leaves 1" of coffee in the pot with the element on filling the room with the smell of burnt coffee.

A couple jobs ago, several employees decided that regular-strength coffee was too strong for them. It was something like you needed to put 4 bags of whatever pre-ground stuff they got in the filter to get 1 carafe full of coffee. But they’d only use 2 bags because their feeble little taste buds preferred weak-ass coffee. So you’d go to get some coffee and all seemed well until you added creamer and the whole cup immediately turned white. Nothing worse than an unmarked carafe of half-strength coffee.

Last time I went in early I got downsized. Aside from less traffic, going to work early is overrated.
